“How would your life be different if...You were conscious about the food you ate, the people you surround yourself with, and the media you watch, listen to, or read? Let today be the day...You pay attention to what you feed your mind, your body, and your life. Create a nourishing environment conducive to your growth and well-being today.” Steve Maraboli, The Power of One
Psychology of Eating is based on the fundamental premise that apart from its obvious physiological function as nourishment for the body, food can and does play a multitude of other roles in people's lives. It can be a symbolic substitute for love and intimacy, a way of soothing our emotions in times of stress, a means of escaping of what otherwise feels like an unfulfilled life, a connection to our ancestors and cultural heritage, or sometimes just a vehicle for celebration of the good times. Because of all of this, our relationship with what we eat is often far more complex than we realise and can be driven by factors other than just our knowledge about nutritional value of the foods we consume.
Psychology of Eating also encompasses the effects of emotional and environmental factors related to stress response, living environment and general life balance, on our digestive function and food choices. Furthermore, it aims to debunk some of the common yet toxic beliefs about certain types of food and eating in general, derived from media and popular culture. Those toxic beliefs often tend to sabotage our efforts to maintain our weight, good health and high energy levels.
In my role as a Mind Body Eating Coach, I draw on my experience of working as a nutritional therapist, in conjunction with the factors mentioned above, to deliver a powerful program of health enquiry and transformation. I would be delighted to work with you on this journey of self discovery.
